Adult Behind The Wheel

Service Description

If you are 18 or older and hold a valid Virginia learner’s permit, you may qualify for an Adult Behind-the-Wheel (BTW) course, which can waive the DMV road skills test and the 60-day holding period for your learner’s permit. The Adult BTW course is designed to ensure you are prepared to drive independently and obtain your license. It is not intended to teach a beginner how to drive.  Must haves:  1. A valid Virginia learner’s permit.  2. Completion of a Virginia-approved driver education course.  3. Possession of a Driver Education Completion Certificate (DEC-1). (If you completed classroom training with us, we already have this on file.)  4. Completion of 7 periods (50 minutes each) of in-car instruction and observation.  5. An active Service contract for the Adult BTW course.  Completion and Licensing Process:  Upon successful completion of both the classroom and in-car instruction, we will submit your Virginia Training Completion Certificate (Adult Waiver) directly to the DMV on your behalf. You will not need to take the certificate to the DMV.  Once the DMV processes your completion, you will receive your Virginia driver’s license by mail within 10 to 14 days.
